Beauty School: How to Apply Mascara Like a Pro

Hello my lovelies. I am back with another beauty school series!

Mascara, mascara, mascara .. some like 'em some fear it and some just couldn't be bothered. I used to go without mascara thinking that it won't make a difference in my eye look. Boy, was I wrong! So now I slap on my mascara for a bigger looking eyes. Read on and learn to apply mascara like a pro! :p

As the saying goes “ the eyes are the windows to one’s soul”. That makes the eyes the most important part of the face therefore it is important for us women to know how to dress up our eyes when going out. Putting on mascara is the easiest way to do that as it lengthens and enhances the look of your lashes, making your eyes look more open. So, how to apply the mascara like a pro? Let me take you through three very simple steps J

Step 1: Curl you lashes with an eyelash curler.

Yes, the game changer lies in the eyelash curler!  Never underestimate the effect an eyelash curler can do to your eye look. Begin by curling the lashes by clamping it as close to your lash line. Do be careful not to clamp your skin as you do this J. Hold it for 10 seconds. Release it and repeat the process at half way up your lashes. This will give you a dramatic curve that would really open up your eyes.

Step 2: Apply mascara …. like a pro!

Gently twist open your mascara ( NEVER pump the wand in and out of the tube as this will push air into the tube and dries out your mascara solution prematurely that causes you to have clumps when applied to the lashes ), and wipe off the excess from the tip of the spooly before applying it onto your lashes. That way you will get just the right amount of mascara without it looking clumpy. Start from the roots, wiggle it to separate your lashes then pull it out to the tip of your lashes. Yes! The secret is to wiggle at the roots. Wiggling the spooly will coat each lashes better making them look thicker.

Step 3: Apply more than two coats of mascara

Yes! You can apply more than two coats of mascara to further lengthen and enhance the look of your lashes. Of course that depends on the formula of your mascara. The more liquidy the formula, the more you can layer. The key is to NOT wait for the mascara to completely dry before applying your second and third coat to avoid clumpy or flaky eye look.

That’s it ladies. You are done. Easy peasy! I hope this post will motivate you to perk up your lashes for bigger looking eyes. Don’t like waterproof mascara? Choose non-waterproof formula like I do J

Too busy to go out and buy mascara? No worries. Buy it online at ZALORA website. They carry a wide range of mascara selection from various brands. Easy checkout process and you can even choose to pay online or upon delivery. I thought that is cool.

Happy days!

The Z Palette Is Finally Mine!

Hey Gorgeous!

If you have read my previous post, you would have seen my Zebra print Z Palette :D. Yes! I just got it after many many years of having it in my wish list.

Ta Daaaa!
What can I say about it?
1. It does not feel cheap. True to my research, it is not 'just' a cardboard box with a window. It is sturdy not flimsy at all. It offers the strength of a plastic palette while using eco-friendly recyclable material.

2. It is light. Unlike the Inglot freedom system palette where they are so heavy, this one has a nice weight to it that gives you the comfort of it being sturdy yet light enough that it won't add that much of a difference to the weight of your handbag should you choose to slip this in.

3. It has a window so you could see what's inside. Unlike those old MAC palettes with black covers where you either have to label them or keep opening the palette until you find the one with the colour combo that you want. I have 2 of those MAC palettes so I have to open them to know which is which simply because I do not want to stick anything on the cover. Even MAC has changed their palette now to the ones with window. Here in Malaysia, the palette will cost you a ridiculous MYR120 for the one without inserts and MYR185 with inserts. So, thank you very much, I will have my Z Palette now please *smirking

4. It simply looked sophisticated and pretty.

5. It has a magnetic closure which I love.

6. It comes in 4 sizes - Small like mine which can fill 9 Makeupgeek shadow pans, 4U Medium that can fit 15 Makeupgeek pans, Large that can fit 27 Makeupgeek pans and a Pro size which fits 35 Makeupgeek pans

7. You can fit in makeup pans of any size.

8. It magnetise my Makeupgeek shadows and my Inglot shadow pans with ease. It won't magnetise my MAC ones thought but the palette comes with a magnet plate so I can stick those plates behind my MAC pans and it will magnetise without an issue.

9. It is cheaper than the new MAC palette. Need I say more? No :)

Let's see more pictures now, shall we?

My customised Makeupgeek and Inglot combo for my trip last weekend

With the lid closed

Gorgeous and sleek. Love the window!

The small palette fits 9 Makeupgeek shadow pans. It is the same for MAC shadow pans too.
I love my leopard print design so much. Just looking at it makes me feel happy.

I bought this at a discounted price of MYR55

If you want to get your hands on Z Palletes, I have some up for sale which will be up soon enough. So, do watch out for that.

I hope you enjoy reading this post. Do share your thoughts on this because I would love to here from you.

Till then stay beautiful and positive.

Yoga : Going Back To The Mat

Hey Gorgeous

It has been a while since I post something on health. I have been busy with work and that, unfortunately has taken me away from my beloved yoga mat for quite some time now. I missed my yoga mat. ...err can one be missing a yoga mat?! hahaha I know I do and it is real.

Late last month, right about after my last post on Yin Yoga, I have practiced it for about 2 weeks. True to its claim that my body became more flexible and the nagging pain i have on my right shoulder has subsided. My bad wrists too have become stronger and I no longer feel pain when I do my chaturangga.

Then life became busy and I only get to practice on the mat twice this month so far :( . Having said that I noticed three prevailing things:
1. I began to feel the old anxiety again and I became restless
2. My skin is not as great as when I practiced 4-5 times a week
3. I don't sleep well at night

In a nutshell .... NOT GOOD. so yesterday I was so happy that I had time to spare and practiced for 1 1/2 hour. It felt so good and for the first time in a long time (it felt like ages) I trully feel happy and free. Funny isn't it? Especially the part of being 'free'. Free from my anxiety caused by external and internal factor. Free from my ever active mind that won't shut down even when I try to sleep. Last night I slept well and peacefully.

The picture that I post in this entry is called Malasana. Like all yoga poses it has its quality. Malasana has a grounding quality and it is a good pose to practice whenever you need to bring on calm.

I shall do it today and may it bring me calmness to me. Try this and tell me what you feel after that.

Stay free and happy

MakeupGeek Haul and Up Coming Blog Sale!

Makeupgeek Pressed Eyeshadow Pan
Hey dolls

It's heeeeeeeereee! I cannot tell you how happy I am to receive my MakeupGeek eyeshadows! I have been wanting to expand my MUG collection and now its here!

Packaged in lovely card sleeves, these babies fit into your MAC palette like a dream. hmmm did I tell you that I prefer these to MAC? I think I did in my last post so take heed woman.

I love 'em packagin' . This is what the sleeve looks like up close:

It has a little insert that holds the eyeshadow pan

And the insert has Marlena's personal message. Isn't that sweet?
My new eyeshadows :D

From top row, left-right : Hipster, Cocoa Bear, Peach Smoothie, Pretentious, Brown Sugar, Frappe and Creme Brûlée

From left-right: Hipster, Cocoa Bear, Peach Smoothie, Pretentious, Brown Sugar, Frappe and Creme Brûlée
And this is after i tried to clean the shadows off.. so pigmented!

The eyeshadows are swatched without using primer as I want you all to see how pigmented they are. Again, nothing beats the real thing, the camera didn't do justice to the colours ladies, you have got get them and see it for yourself.

I love them all but yes I do have my favourites :D They are Cocoa Bear, Brown Sugar, Frappe and Creme Brûlée. Perfect colours for the most flawless natural makeup do. Creme Brûlée is the prefect crease colour for me and Cocoa Bear is my best colour the emphasise the depth of my crease.

They are USD 5.99 per piece and surely 1/3 of the price of MAC shadows even after shipping. The texture is smooth and buttery. They are also easy to blend even the matte ones. I love their shadows so much.

For those of you who wish to order MakeupGeek I would gladly process your orders for you. Do check on the banner on my side bar or the top of my blog to see what colours you like to own.

My March 2014 Haul: Too Faced, IT Cosmetics, Urban Decay, Stila, Lorac

Hello Lovelies

It is time for my March Haul ladies and man did I go crazy with palettes last month! I still can't justify my palette rampage but .... a girl has got to get what she wants :p and I am sooooo in love with all my buys.

Here are my darlings :D

Too Faced Chocolate Bar, IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty, Stila Eye Kajal,  UD Naked 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Liner, UD Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss

Tarte Amazonian Clay 24-hour Blush in Exposed

Lorac Pro

More pictures

1. Too Faced Chocolate Bar - This is one of the most unique palette that I own. It is made with pure cocoa powder and it smells delicious! The shadows are soft to the touch, great colour payoff and awesome neutral shades. I love this palette so much I have to remind myself to not use it everyday and neglect other palettes in line for rotation. Its packaging is so cute and shaped like a chocolate bar, sturdy with a magnetised closure that clicks softly when you close it (unlike the UD Naked Palettes). Retailed at MYR 149 from Sephora. So worth the money!

2. IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty - ohh this is my ultimate matte palette! The shadows are soft and buttery to the touch, great pigmentation, very wearable colours that are work appropriate and great for evening looks as well. It has a transforming pearl shadow that would transform all the matte colours to shimmery satin. So instantly you would have another 14 colours with satin finish. I haven't used the transforming pearl as yet because I love the matte colours on their own. I bought this online at MYR195.

Chocolate Bar and Naturally Pretty side by side

3. Stila Kajal in Topaz, Urban Decay Naked Ultra Nourishing Lipgloss in Beso and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Double Ended Liner in Naked 3 - I love my Stila Kajal. Topaz is the perfect colour to wear to line my water line. I don't exactly remember how much I bought this but I believe it did not cost me more than MYR60. My new favourite lipgloss is now my UD Naked lipgloss in Beso. Love the colour and I get compliments everytime I wear this on my lips. Retailed at MYR79. The double ended eye liner in Naked 3, I have only worn it on my lower lash line for now and I am loving it so far. Goes so well with the Naked 3 palette but also goes well with other neutral looks. Retailed at MYR57

Left-Right: Beso, Blackheart, Darkside and Topaz
4. tarte Amazonian Clay 24-hour Blush in Exposed - This, ladies, is my ultimate blush colour ever. I have blushes to last me a life time ok but this .... this is something else. I have seen swatches of this colour online and for the life of me I couldn't understand why people would want to wear this colour on their cheeks as they look so .. brown and 'dead' to me. However, I saw this mini one at the checkout counter at Sephora and thought .. why not. Afterall it will only cost me MYR29. Upon reaching home I immediately try it on and boy was I wrong. I have other tarte blushes but none gave the most amazing natural flush as this. Amazing, amazing colour and if you have budget to buy just one blush... I say go for this. Lovely colour and I would not even attempt to swatch this for you because the camera will not do justice to the colour. Just buy it! Full size blush will cost you MYR120

5. Lorac Pro - Last but not least, I got myself the coveted Lorac Pro that has been the rave on YouTube since its launch about 2 years now. I just have to have it...period! Bought this online for MYR198. Since I bought 3 palettes.., this palette is like the in between of my Chocolate Bar and Naturally Pretty palette. 8 great matte colours and 8 satin colours. Beautiful! I understand why so many people loved this and picked this as their favourite. A versatile palette that could take you from work appropriate to evening party/night out. There is just so many looks you can create, with just this one palette; dramatic or neutral. Houses staple colours and you can't go wrong with any colour combo. The packaging is so thin ... it is the thinnest one I owned! I can't tell you enough how glad I amto have bought it. Here is a shot at the palette along side the Chocolate Bar

Gorgeous! I love both palettes!

See how thin and sleek the Lorac Pro is in comparison to Chocolate Bar and  Naturally Pretty?
*sigh* .... I am one happy woman :D ... and no I have not bought any makeup item so far this April hehe ...yet! haha

Anyway, thank you for dropping by. Do follow me here at and Google+ and on instagram DIANALUCIANA

KOSE SEKKISEI Lotion Review + Giveaway

Hello my lovelies

It is time for another review and my first giveaway! So read till the end to find out more.

A few days ago I was contacted and asked if I would be interested to review a product, plus a chance to do a giveaway. Are you kidding me? And I get to giveaway stuff for my beautiful readers? Of course I would hahaha!

Anyway, I new about Kosé a long time ago and it is one of the best Japanese skincare brand out there in the market. You know how Japanese women are when it comes to skincare .. they only want the best,  so I can only say that Kosé will ensure that ONLY the best ingredients will go into their glorious blue bottles. So you can imagine my excitement. Can’t wait to try the product most definitely!

Now this was what I collected *excited plus doing the happy dance*. Yes, it is the Sekkisei Lotion.

The pocket mask
Comes with 2 packets of mask

A little bit of education on Sekkisei Lotion shall we?

The range
The Kosé Sekkisei range is a whitening range that is recommended for beauties whose skin concerns are dullness, dryness which contributes to roughness in skin texture and dark spots.

It is formulated using Japanese and Chinese herbal extracts as the main ingredients, carefully selected from approximately 100 types of oriental plants; creating the ‘beautiful translucent skin recipe’.

The 3 main ingredients are:

Coix Seed
Coix Seed extract is said to have effects such as increasing skin metabolism, whitening, moisturization, and prevention of skin roughness.

Melothria ( White Lotus) extract according to the Chinese prescription medicine book WaitaiBiyao Fang (“Arcane Essentials from the Imperial Library Formulary”) states that Melothria has whitening effects on the skin. It works by suppressing melanin production.

Angelica extract on the other hand is often used in bath liquids and has disinfecting, whitening, and moisturizing effects.

About Kosé Sekkisei Lotion

This cloudy white lotion when used:
1.     creates fine-textured skin that is hydrated and translucent like snow.
2.     balances out the skin’s moisture levels, preventing dullness, roughness, and pimples caused by dryness, as well as redness caused by sunburn from sunlight, or by the sun’s reflection in snowy areas.
3.     blends instantly into the skin, just like melting snow, creating fine
textured, plumped skin. With a refreshing, light sensation, the lotion leaves the surface of the skin feeling silky smooth, yet hydrated. The skin regains its natural pure translucency down to the pores.
This lotion can be used on your face, neck, body and as a mask.

This lotion is best used as a mask as it offers superb moisture (10 times higher than without using lotion mask) to skin to give a lustre you have never known before.

The benefits?

The 9 benefits of Sekkisei Lotion

 Using it as a mask
As I have shown earlier I was given a pocket mask readily soaked in Sekkisei Lotion.

The Mask

Unfolded mask

First, I started with a freshly cleansed face

Freshly cleansed face
Secondly, I unfold the mask and put it on my face as I would do with any sheet mask. When I put it on my face, I felt instant coolness. It was so invigorating. Heaven!

Hahaha i look like Casper!

Thirdly, leave it on for 5-10 minutes.

I left it for 10 minutes
Forthly, I took the mask off after the recommended time. I dab the excess into my skin until it is absorbed, no rinsing is necessary. It doesn't leave a sticky residue which is awesome. My skin felt so soft and smooth as if I have just scrubed it.

This is my before and after picture:
Before                                  After

As you can see my skin looked clearer. That was a pleasant surprise! Normally your skin will look bright after cleansing because of the moisture that still lingers on your skin surface so how can your skin looked any brighter, right? But it did! It means that this mask gives even more hydration and brightens the skin making it translucent.

The recommended use of this lotion mask is 2-3 times a week. Can you imagine what your skin will look like if you religiously do it 2-3 times a week? Yup, you will get that beautiful translucent, fine-textured skin of your dream.

I am happy with the results.
